Any former employee or student appointee of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (“the university”) may file a claim for unemployment compensation. However, certain conditions must exist before a claimant is eligible to receive benefits as determined by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Any operating unit or supervisor who receives the Initial Claim for Benefits or any other form pertaining to unemployment compensation from the Texas Workforce Commission is to forward the form(s) to Human Resources immediately. Failure to provide a timely and accurate response to the unemployment claim may result in the acceptance of the claim regardless of its validity. The Initial Claim for Benefits form is processed on receipt in HR.
HR will take necessary action to ensure that all appropriate information is filed with the Texas Workforce Commission.
