Guidelines for the Use of Search Firms

  1. The Human Resources department will determine the appropriateness of utilizing search firms as a part of the overall process of sourcing for candidates to fill highly technical, professional or executive positions.
  2. The use of a search firm will be restricted to director level positions and above, unless deemed appropriate by the Human Resources department.
  3. The hiring department will be responsible for all costs associated with the use of a search firm including travel, accommodations, meals and associated expenses. The hiring department should consult the “Special Travel Situations” section of The Travel Guide.
  4. The Human Resources department will serve as the liaison between the search committee and the search firm. During the performance of these services, the search firm will comply with all federal, state and local laws and all applicable Equal Employment Opportunity/Diversity policies.
  5. The selected search firm will be responsible for providing all needed documentation to the Human Resources department for completion of the Affirmative Action Summary.
