Mobility AE

POLICY OVERVIEW

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSC-H) seeks to fulfill its role as good corporate citizen by supporting and promoting programs that enhance and conserve our natural environment. As part of our nation's plan to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and in an effort to provide transportation alternatives for members of the university community, UTHSC-H has established a Mobility Program.

To provide incentives to employees to use various alternative forms of transportation to and from the Texas Medical Center, UTHSC-H will provide a mobility subsidy or other, similar consideration.

To be eligible for the mobility program, a UTHSC-H faculty or staff member must:

• Be at least a .80 FTE employee.
• Maintain his or her normal work schedule or a modified work schedule that has been accepted and approved in advance by the employee's supervisor.
• Forfeit any existing parking contracts held with UTHSC-H, the Texas Medical Center (TMC), or any other TMC entity. (The driver of a van pool will retain a parking contract.)

An UTHSC-H employee who is found to be misusing the program will be dropped from the program. Depending upon the nature of the misuse, the employee may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination or employment.

PROCEDURE

As of the current date of this policy, UTHSC-H Mobility Program alternative transportation includes:

• Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO)
• Van Pool Services, Inc., (VPSI)
• Woodlands Express (operated by Brazos Transit Authority)
